As Michael Keaton once shouted to Jack Nicholson in the original Tim Burton Batman movie, “You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts!” There’s no other way to look at the opening lines for Week 2 of the NFL season without feeling like the oddsmakers have all been hitting a little too much absinthe in their spare time. Still, we have plenty of highlight-worthy match ups in Week 2, including a couple of marquee games with the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Green Bay Packers and an AFC Championship rematch between the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars.
The prime time games leave a lot to be desired and it makes you wonder what prompted the schedule makers to think we’d be so eager to watch the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears in the dark, but that’s what we’re getting.
The Week 2 Sunday nighter featuring the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants should be outstanding and, with it opening at -6, should see plenty of action with the sportsbooks.
