There were a number of stunning results in Week 3, including both the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars losing as massive double-digit favorites. That’s had a noticeable impact on the Week 4 opening odds. Here’s what they look like:
Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Rams
Opening Line: Rams -7
The Vikings were a disaster in Week 3, nearly getting shut out at home by the Buffalo Bills. Now they have to go on the road and find a way to beat the Rams, who have looked like the top team in the NFL so far.
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots
Opening Line: Patriots -8.5
Who would have figured that the Dolphins would have the better record of the two teams at this meeting? We’ll find out if they’re for real in this spot.
Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts
Opening Line: Colts -2.5
The Texans remain as one of the NFL’s winless teams. They’ll have a tough time on the road in Indianapolis facing a Colts squad that has been competitive in every game so far. They opened -1.5 but are now a 2.5-point dog.
Cincinnati Bengals at Atlanta Falcons
Opening Line: Falcons -6
The Falcons lost a tough one at home to the New Orleans Saints. They also lost another key piece of their defense as Ricardo Allen was carted off. The good news is they get a Bengals team that’s playing its second straight road game.
Buffalo Bills at Green Bay Packers
Opening Line: Packers -11.5
The Bills shocked the world with their outright win at Minnesota. Originally, this line was projected at 14.5 but it’s changed a lot given their win and the Packers loss last week.
New York Jets at Jacksonville Jaguars
Opening Line: Jaguars -7
The Jaguars, like the Vikings, flopped in Week 3 after an impressive performance in Week 2. Now they’ll face a rookie quarterback in Sam Darnold, along with a Jets team that’s had 10 days to prepare.
Cleveland Browns at Oakland Raiders
Opening Line: Raiders -1.5
The Oakland Raiders hurt themselves again Week 3 as a bad Derek Carr interception crushed their late-game chances. This is a good opportunity for them to earn their first win of the year but if they fail to do so, the Jon Gruden second-guessing will start to heat up.
New Orleans Saints at New York Giants
Opening Line: Saints -2.5
The Saints looked sleepy in their first two games of the season but finally came to play in Week 3. Their defense was shredded for a second time in three weeks. We’ll see if the Giants – who earned their first win of the year at Houston last week – can pick them apart and make a game of this.
Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
Opening Line: Steelers -3
The Ravens returned home and earned a comfortable win over the Denver Broncos. They were again sloppy (had a blocked punt, a blocked field goal) but won handily otherwise. Now they face their biggest AFC North rival. Their matchups with the Steelers are always tight.
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
Opening Line: Chiefs -4
The Chiefs offense continued to light it up as they had 35 first half points against the San Francisco 49ers last week. Now they’ll go on the road to Mile High to face one of the league’s better defenses. We’ll see if they can keep it up.
