NHL Daily Fantasy: The Starting Six for January 25th

Hope everyone on the East Coast was able to dig their cars out okay after the snowstorm. If not, then the best way to kill some time while you’re snowed in is prepare your daily fantasy lineup. There’s six games on the schedule for tonight. Let’s take a look at the top candidates for your NHL daily fantasy team’s starting six:

C- Jack Eichel, BUF
The Buffalo Sabres are going up against a Rangers team that allows a lot of shots. A lot of shots. The rookie phenom will be a fun play tonight. Eichel has 14 goals and 16 assists in his first year with Buffalo. He has a goal and two assists in his last three games. This will be Eichel’s first game at Madison Square Garden in his professional career. LeftWingLock believes Antti Raanta is probable to start for the Rangers tonight. If that is the case, Eichel could be especially effective against a backup goaltender. Put him in your daily fantasy lineup tonight.

LW- Kerby Rychel, CBJ
Since being recalled to the Blue Jackets’ roster, Kerby Rychel has been very impressive. The youngster has two multi-point nights in his last three games and has been all over the ice. He has not been getting tons of ice time on the Columbus third line, but being with William Karlsson and Nick Foligno has been helping his game along quite nicely. As the Jackets go up against the Montreal Canadiens tonight at home, Rychel might be good for another point or two. Take him as a sleeper pick tonight.

RW- Shane Doan, ARI
The question has been lingering over Shane Doan’s head for well over a year now: when will be the time to retire? It certainly does not seem to be this year. The 39-year-old captain of the Coyotes looks as spry as every, potting 17 goals this season in just 38 games. As mentioned in the daily rundown of today’s action, Doan could potentially hit 30 goals for the first time since 2008-2009. He is shooting at a career best 18.5%. It will surely regress to the mean eventually. But for now, ride that wave. Doan is on a three-game point streak. Get him in your starting six tonight.

D- Torey Krug, BOS
Torey Krug was a human rifle Saturday night against Columbus. Aim, fire, reload, repeat. Krug got eight shots on goal, a season high. He also scored a very nifty shootout goal to lock up the victory for his team. While he’s been held off the scoresheet in his last three games outside of that shootout goal, good things happen when Krug shoots the puck. The 24-year old defenseman has three goals and 19 assists on the season. The Bruins offense has been gaining some momentum and having David Krecji back only helps that. Put Krug in your lineup tonight as the Bruins take on the Flyers.

D- Mark Giordano, CGY
Giordano is on a nice three-game point streak for the Calgary Flames with four assists under his belt. Giordano has been his usual puck-moving self this season, eating up top pairing minutes and tallying 30 points in the process. Calgary will be taking on the Dallas Stars tonight, who have been allowing three or four goals per night regularly since the turn of the new year. There is a good opportunity for the Flames to win tonight and put some points on the board in the process. Give Giordano a start tonight.

G- Jaroslav Halak, NYI
Halak will be locked in the goalie battle of the night against Petr Mrazek. Halak has hit a groove in his last three starts, allowing just four goals. He has had to face 30+ shots in four of his last five games. He has looked very solid after a brief re-acclimation process following his return from injury. The Detroit Red Wings have had a lot of troubles putting the puck in the back of the net and the Islanders are going to be looking to capitalize on that. Expect Jaroslav Halak to be a key factor going into tonight.
