NHL Picks: Busy Thursday in NHL Includes Islanders at the Kings

NHL Picks: The New York Islanders visit the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday in one of the ten games on a busy Thursday in the NHL. The Islanders started the season strongly but they have struggled on this road trip that concludes in Arizona on Saturday. It won’t be easy on Thursday against the defending Stanley Cup champs. Let’s look at all of the action on Thursday and NHL predictions.

Islanders at Kings

The Islanders were rolling along pretty good until this road trip out west began. The team was routed in Colorado 5-0 and then they lost 3-1 in San Jose. They were in Anaheim on Wednesday and now they have to play with no rest in Los Angeles on Thursday. It is definitely a bad spot playing the defending champs with no rest. It doesn’t help that the Islanders have dropped 8 of the last 10 against the Kings. The last four meetings have gone under the total. The teams met last year in Los Angeles and the Kings won by a score of 3-0. The Islanders have dropped the past four games in Los Angeles with two of the last three going under. New York has not won in L.A. since 2003.

NHL Picks

We’ll look for the Kings to win this game on Thursday night.

More Thursday NHL Betting Predictions

  • Edmonton at Boston – The Bruins are going to be big home favorites but the Oilers are playing much better than they did early in the season. The price is too high so we’ll pass on this one.
  • Florida at Philadelphia – These two teams met last week and the Panthers won 2-1. Why not another low scoring game in this one?
  • Minnesota at Ottawa – The Wild are a live road underdog worth taking in this one.
  • Calgary at Tampa Bay – This should be a low scoring game that goes under the total.
  • New Jersey at St. Louis – The Blues should win a game that goes over the NHL betting total.
  • Pittsburgh at Winnipeg – It would not be a surprise to see the total on this one at 6 or 6.5 and even then it should go over.
  • Nashville at Dallas – We’ll back the home team in this one.
  • Toronto at Colorado – We’ll go under the total in this game in what should be a good duel between Bernie and Varlamov.
  • Vancouver at San Jose – The Sharks rarely lose at home so we’ll take San Jose to get the home win.
