NHL Picks: Friday’s Action Features Los Angeles at Detroit

NHL Picks: The defending champion Los Angeles Kings visit the Detroit Red Wings in one of the four games on the Friday night NHL schedule. The Kings have looked like defending champions early in the season but it should be noted that most of their games have been at home. In fact, they played seven of their first eight at home and went 6-1-1. They are getting a reality check now as they are playing their third game on a five-game road trip. This is also their third game in four nights and a back-to-back as the Kings were in Pittsburgh on Thursday. Let’s look at the contest and the other three games for Friday night.

Los Angeles at Detroit

The Red Wings have won 7 of the last 10 in this series with the last five games being low scoring. Three of the last five have gone under with the other two games landing on the total. The Red Wings won both meetings last season as they won 3-1 in Los Angeles and 3-2 at home. Detroit has won the past five at home in this series. The Kings have not won in Detroit since 2011.

NHL Predictions

The situation definitely favors Detroit simply for the fact that the Kings are playing their third game in four nights and with no rest. The trends also favor the Red Wings in this one as they have owned the Kings at home of late. We’ll take Detroit and also play the game under.

–More Friday NHL Predictions–

Toronto at Columbus

Neither of these teams has been playing much defense this season and surprisingly, their goaltending has been that great. We should get a total of 5 or 5.5 in this one so we’ll go over the total.

Anaheim at Dallas

These two teams have been scoring a lot of goals as each ranks in the top ten in the league in goals per game. They have also played a lot of high scoring games lately in the series. We’ll go over the total.

Nashville at Calgary

The Predators have been a huge surprise this season but so have the Flames. This one should be low scoring so we’ll go under the total.
