NHL Wednesday Fantasy Six

Chicago's Duncan Keith matches up well against the Flyers on Wednesday

In a classic case of too little and too late the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars are hot and resemble teams that have pulled the goal for one last furious rush to the playoffs.  While their late season charges will likely fall short its sets up well for Wednesday’s Fantasy Six.

Left Wing – Jamie Benn – Dallas Stars

The Stars are at the Calgary Flames with faceoff time set for 10 PM ET.  Don’t look now but the Stars have won seven out of their last ten to keep their faint playoff hopes alive.  Calgary ranks 16th in the NHL for goals against and 23rd for the penalty kill.  That sets up well for Benn, who has 24 goals and 43 assists on the season and has one goal and four assists in his last five games.

Center – Tyler Seguin – Dallas Stars

Seguin has two goals and assists in his last five games and is capable of much more as evidenced by his season totals of 33 goals and 31 assists in 62 games.  Calgary’s defense and penalty killing should make for a night of opportunity for Seguin.

Right Wing – Jerome Iginla – Colorado Avalanche

The Avs are also hot with seven wins in their last ten games to also keep their playoff hopes alive.   Iginla has 24 goals and 26 assists Colorado’s leading scorer and has five goals and three assists in his last eight games.   The Avalanche are at the Edmonton Oilers with faceoff set for 8 PM ET and that means there will be plenty of offensive opportunities.  Edmonton ranks dead last in the NHL for goals against and 27th for the penalty kill.

Defenseman – Tyson Barrie – Colorado Avalanche

Again we pick on the dreadful Oilers.  Barrie has one goal and six assists in his last eight games and has 11 goals and 35 assists on the season.

Defenseman – Duncan Keith – Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks are at the Philadelphia Flyers on NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry at 8 PM ET.  Philadelphia ranks a poor 24th in the NHL for both goals scored and goals against and ranks 29th for penalty killing.  That all sets up well for Keith, who has eight goals and 33 assists on the season with a plus-17.  Keith has a goal and four assists in his last eight games.

Goalie – Corey Crawford – Chicago Blackhawks

Crawford should have the potential for a big night against the Flyers team with little in the way of secondary scoring.  Crawford is hot with a .948 save percentage in his last seven games and has a .924 save percentage on the season.
