North Carolina became the latest state to legalize beer and wine sales at on-campus athletic events yesterday. The North Carolina Senate voted to allow schools the option to determine whether or not they wished to sell alcohol, and the bill is expected to be signed into law by Governor Roy Cooper soon. Proponents have said that they aim to lessen the number of alcohol-related problems on gameday with the measure, but the real reason behind this is so that schools can sell $11 beers. These schools are in for a rude awakening, as they will not receive the financial windfall they are expecting from this measure, and at least one school lost money by allowing alcohol sales in 2017.
The North Carolina General Assembly is closing in on final approval of legislation giving all University of North Carolina System campuses the option to sell beer and wine at campus athletic events. https://t.co/yIotF5HHlk

Herm Edwards is not doing anything to dissuade rival coaches that have been negatively recruiting him on the recruiting trail since he was hired to coach Arizona State. Edwards has been portrayed as an older coach that is out of touch with the modern game by others, and his recent comments won’t shake that notion. The former head coach of the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs had not coached at the collegiate level for nearly three decades before becoming the Sun Devils’ coach in 2018.

There is a lot of optimism surrounding the Nebraska Cornhuskers this season. Scott Frost has now been at the helm for over a year, and Cornhuskers fans yearning for the glory days think that he will be the first coach to take them to a conference championship since Nebraska won the Big XII in 1999. Nebraska managed to go just 4-8 in Frost’s first season, but they were a little unlucky with a 1-5 record in one-score games. This offense should be a lot better in 2019 provided Adrian Martinez can avoid injury and stay on the field throughout the season.
