LiAngelo Ball wasn’t selected in the 2018 NBA Draft. After going undrafted, the big question now is what will be next for the middle child in the Ball family. LiAngelo Ball left college to play overseas in preparation for the draft but now that he wasn’t taken there are plenty of questions about his decision to leave after being recruited by UCLA. So what’s next for the young baller following his passing up on at the draft? Here is a look at the best options for LiAngelo Ball.
G-League
The first option for LiAngelo would be to sign with a team and play in the G-League. The fact that he went undrafted means that LiAngelo could sign with whatever team he chooses assuming there is interest around the league. Free Agency doesn’t begin until July 1st. Will there be a team that shows enough interest in him to sign him? Will he be signed in time to play in the Summer League? Will a team offer a two-way contract in order to then funnel him in to the G-League? The option should be there for LiAngelo but it might not be his best path to the NBA.
Back To Europe?
The second option for LiAngelo would be to head back to Europe and play overseas. LiAngelo needs as much exposure as possible if he decides to play and he would have the opportunity to perform against other adults if he plays in Europe. There would be some serious interest in him not only based on his skill set but based on his family and the fact that he could help sell tickets. LiAngelo could benefit from playing in Europe but it still might not be the best option.
Back To School?
The most interesting option for LiAngelo would be finally choosing to go to school for at least a year. The question then is whether or not there would be the same level of interest from schools like UCLA. Lonzo Ball is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers while LaMelo Ball is just two years away from his own draft night. At the very least, going back to school will mean LiAngelo could get an education while still playing at a high level and building up his stock. With a handful of options on the board, LiAngelo will have no shortage of options. The key now is which one he decides to take. Ultimately, it’s up to him and his family. While the decision-making process is entertaining for everybody interested in following the Ball family and Lavar’s antics, ultimately the hope is that he ends up in the best possible scenario to ensure he enjoys the best possible future.
