Oakland Athletics at Seattle Mariners Betting Preview 04/14/18

The Seattle Mariners are searching for their fourth consecutive victory as they play host to the Oakland Athletics at Safeco Field. NBC Sports – California will broadcast the action and the opening pitch is scheduled for 9:10 p.m. ET.

Oakland (+105) is the underdog to Seattle (-115) and oddsmakers have put the Over/Under for this night game at 8.5 runs (-110 for the over and -110 for the under). Bettors can also wager on the game’s runline with the current odds sitting at Athletics +1.5 runs (-200) and Mariners +-1.5 runs (+170).

The Athletics are 5-9 SU and have gone 6-7 against the spread (ATS). They’ve lost 3.3 units for moneyline bettors in the season’s early going and 3.4 units ATS. Cano enjoyed hitting against right-handed pitchers at home last year. Over 214 such plate appearances, he slashed .321/.393/.542 (his overall season line was .280/.338/.453).

In the visiting dugout, Oakland’s pitching staff allowed 5.3 runs per game and its starters own a 5.30 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 6.53 K/9. The bullpen has an ERA of 3.88, along with a K/9 of 6.71.

The Athletics offense has slashed .263/.338/.424 on its way to 4.6 runs scored per game in 2018, including 4.0 runs per game against divisional foes and 5.6 per game over the team’s last five outings (2-3 SU).

Oakland’s offensive production been led by third baseman Matt Chapman and second baseman Jed Lowrie. Chapman is hitting .358/.424/.698 with 19 hits, five homers, 12 RBIs and 12 runs scored, while Lowrie is hitting .310/.365/.517 with 18 hits, three homers, 11 RBIs and six runs scored.

Chapman didn’t do as well batting on the road in 2017, maintaining a slash line of .183/.273/.401 across 161 plate appearances (his total season line was .234/.313/.472).
