Major League Baseball has rallied around Red Sox legend David Ortiz after his horrific shooting in the Dominican Republic on Sunday night. Even former President Barack Obama joined many notable players in wishing Ortiz well and expressing horror at the situation. In less serious situations Sunday, Max Muncy took Madison Bumgarner deep. Then told Bumgarner he had no reason to be so upset at him (in a much more creative way).
A gunman shot Ortiz from behind while he was a club (WARNING: the video embedded below is graphic.)
Six years ago, David Ortiz’s spirit and resolve helped us all begin to heal from the Boston Marathon bombing. Today, I want to join many others in wishing him a speedy recovery of his own. Get well soon, Papi. pic.twitter.com/9orpBgnVI5

Thank God you are stable. Wishing you a full recovery. Love you my brother. God always protects his children and you are one of them @davidortiz. pic.twitter.com/8S3Aru2tog

Utter shock. That was no robbery, that was a hit, and they better get to the bottom of it. Thank god no amount of evil or hate can overcome a heart that big. You got this @davidortiz, we love you bro!

Madison Bumgarner comes off strange here. He gave up the home run, Muncy didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, and then Bumgarner starts jawing at him. Muncy was ready with a quick retort, though.

Muncy: “Bumgarner said ‘don’t watch the ball, run’, and I just told him if he doesn’t want me to watch the ball, go get it out of the ocean.”

Elsewhere, the Nationals hit four consecutive home runs. Don’t see that too often.
We’re the only team in @MLB history to hit back-to-back-to-back-to-back HRs twice.
