Panthers News: Christian McCaffery Joins Exclusive Club on Madden Video Game

Here at Get More Sports, we’re fans of the Madden video game series. Furthermore, I have been playing the game since the 1992 version of the game on Sega Genesis. While most of you may not know what Sega is – you may currently own Madden 20.

Now, Christian McCaffery has accomplished something that makes the epic football video game newsworthy.

Currently the 23-year-old McCaffrey is on pace to break Chris Johnson’s yards from scrimmage record. Accordingly, Madden has adjusted his rating to a 99 overall; which is the highest possible rating you can obtain on the game.

Notably, Johnson, Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, LaDainian Tomlinson and Adrian Peterson are the only other running backs to ever achieve this feat.

It’s a noteworthy feat to achieve this, and what it really means is the player has arrived on the map as a bonafide superstar. For instance, Patrick Mahomes has been a 99 overall player on Madden this season. By comparison, McCaffrey had a 91 overall to begin the season.

Here’s what he had to say regarding the feat:

“This means a lot,” McCaffrey told the team website. “It’s really cool. I played Madden my whole life. Getting a 99, to be in that company means a lot. It’s definitely very humbling.”

Finally, it’s interesting to note how this has become somewhat mainstream news. Even amongst NFL players, their Madden rating means a lot. While a lot of guys compete over things like statistics and contract dollars, it’s good to know a video game rating can be a source of pride. After all, many of the guys on the field today were kids not that long ago. And they played Madden just like you and I.

It’s the human element that helps you realize despite having all-world ability, they’re just normal people too off the field.
