The last time the Waves played, they blew out the Portland Pilots, 83-58. The Waves had an extraordinary effective field goal percentage of 0.642 (above their season average of 0.521) and had an offensive rebounding percentage of 30.8 (above their season average of 24.7). With 14 points on 4-for-9 shooting, Kameron Edwards was the top scorer from either team.

The Tigers got blown out by the Loyola Marymount Lions in their last game, 60-42. Loyola Marymount’s free throw rate was their largest strength over Pacific. The Lions had a rate of 0.366 (above their season average of 0.272), while the Tigers posted a mark of 0.184 (below their season average of 0.338). Pacific’s Jahlil Tripp put up 11 points and six rebounds in the game.

After the Tigers won both meetings against the Waves last season, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams. In the last game, Pacific won 81-72. The Tigers’ offensive rebounding percentage was their biggest strength over the Waves. Pacific had a rate of 33.3, while Pepperdine posted a mark of 25.0.

This has potential to be an error-filled game for the offense of Pacific. Pacific ranks 250th in the nation in ball protection (turnover percentage of 20.0 percent), while the gambling defense of Pepperdine forces the 47th-most turnovers in the NCAA (22.1 percent). Moreover, the Waves, who rank 289th in offensive rebounding percentage (24.9 percent), might struggle to get put-back points against the Tigers, who rank ninth in defensive rebounding percentage (77.6 percent).
