PGA Fantasy: Daily Fantasy Lineup For The Masters

The first major championship of the season is set to get underway this week as the best in the world converge on Augusta National for The Masters. There will be $10 million on the line in prize money along with the prestige of winning the green jacket but the players aren’t the only ones that will have the opportunity to make money. DraftKings has created countless fantasy tournaments in order to give golf fans a chance to make some serious money including the PGA $400K Birdie that will feature a guaranteed $400,000 in prize money with only a $3 entry fee. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA fantasy tournaments.

Bubba Watson, $11,400

It’s hard to ignore the two-time Masters champion as an excellent option at the top of DraftKings lineups this week. Watson hasn’t played a ton in 2016 but he has the track record at this tournament and he will arrive at Augusta rested and in good form as he tries for his third green jacket. Watson has made the cut in seven straight Masters and after finishing tied for 38th a year ago he is primed to bounce back with another strong performance this weekend with a good chance he contends for the outright win.

Henrik Stenson, $9,600

Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Rory McIlroy will each be popular picks this week but we prefer Stenson over the big boys for several reasons. The defending champions have historically struggled at this tournament with only three repeat winners while McIlroy and Day haven’t exactly shined with the spotlight at its brightest at The Masters. That leaves us with Stenson, who is a strong value play at just $9.6K. Stenson has yet to crack the top-10 but he has placed in the top-20 in each of the last three years and we are banking on this being the year when he finally breaks through. Stenson has been extremely consistent on the PGA Tour and it’s about time that he finds his way at Augusta.

Patrick Reed, $8,300

Reed finished tied for 22nd in his second Masters a year ago and he has made the cut in each of his last five major championships. He is still looking for his first win of the season but he has placed in the top-10 in each of his last three tournaments so he should be feeling confident heading in to this week’s action. Reed has all of the tools to contend for the outright win if he can put it all together and we like him as a strong value play.

Bill Haas, $7,500

Haas has never won a major championship but he is a six-time champion on the PGA Tour and he is coming off a near-miss at the Valspar Championship a couple of weeks ago. Haas has made the cut in each of his six appearances in this tournament including top-20 finishes in each of the last three years. If he can continue that trend, then he will be an excellent value option on DraftKings this week.

Ian Poulter, $7,200

Poulter has never won The Masters but he is a veteran of the tournament with a very strong track record at Augusta National. Poulter hasn’t been very good this season but he finished inside the top-25 in seven of his last nine Masters appearances. He did finish third at the Puerto Rico Open a couple of weeks ago so he should be confident heading in to this week’s tournament.

Scott Piercy, $5,900

Piercy won’t be the most popular pick by any means but he is an excellent choice for anybody that wants to take a flier on a very cheap sleeper pick with high upside. Piercy is a very streaky golfer and he is coming off a pair of top-20 finishes in March with the potential to stay hot in The Masters. Piercy made the cut in his only trip to Augusta back in 2013 when he finished tied for 54th but the potential is there for an even better showing this time around.
