PGA Fantasy: Wells Fargo Championship Daily Fantasy Lineup

The PGA Tour returns to Quail Hollow and the famous “Green Mile” for the Wells Fargo Championship this week. There will be $7.3 million in prize money handed out in Charlotte, North Carolina this week but the best on the PGA Tour aren’t the only ones in position to make some serious money as fantasy experts will also have the opportunity to land a substantial pay day in DraftKings fantasy tournaments. We broke down the field to determine the best combination of stat talent and strong sleeper value options in order to create the best possible fantasy lineup for this week’s event. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA tournaments.

Rory McIlroy, $12,800

McIlroy absolutely dominated here a year ago when he recorded his second victory at the Wells Fargo Championship and it will be very difficult to avoid him in fantasy competitions this week. McIlroy has struggled early on this season but he hasn’t teed off since The Masters so he should be rested and focused heading in to this week. There are some that will be cautious of spending so much money on McIlroy given his recent form but he has absolutely dominated in the past at Quail Hollow so this week could be the perfect opportunity for a breakout performance.

Patrick Reed $9,700

Reed was a runner-up at TPC San Antonio a couple of weeks ago and he has registered three top-10 finishes in his last four events so he is certainly in form heading in to the Wells Fargo Championship. Reed has been incredibly consistent overall and we love locking him in at a very reasonable price for this week.

J.B. Holmes, $9,100

Holmes was forced to withdraw from the shell Houston Open where he won in 015, but he finished T-4th at The Masters and T-13th at the Valero Texas Open so he is in fine form heading in to this tournament. Holmes is one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour so he definitely has the length to contend this week. Holmes missed the cut here last year but he won the Wells Fargo Championship in 2014 and finished in the top-10 here in 2011 so we like his chances to produce a strong performance again this week.

Cameron Smith, $6,700

With McIlroy, Reed and Holmes locked in as an impressive big three, we can now turn to a handful of strong value options that have the potential to play much better than their price tag would indicate. Smith is one of those players as he has made the cut at six straight events including a top-25 finish at the Shell Houston Open and we like him to deliver a strong performance in his debut at Quail Hollow this week. We have to cut back a little bit with the spending here but we feel we’re still getting quality by adding Smith to the lineup. Hopefully he puts in another solid week for us.

Nick Taylor, $6,000

Taylor is coming off a T-36th at the Zurich Classic and he has made the cut in five straight events dating back to a T-5th at the Puerto Rico Open. He missed the cut at his debut Wells Fargo Championship a year ago but the experience will help him produce a better result this week as a strong sleeper play to contend for a top-25 finish this week.

David Toms, $5,700

The fact that we are able to plug in a golfer at under $6K is a major steal in this spot as the veteran Tomas has made the cut at four straight events with top-40 finishes in each of them. He won the first version of this event back in 2003 and has registered four more top-25 finishes here since so there is reason to believe he could contend for another top-25 finish this week. His upside and extremely low price tag make him a strong sleeper value play to fill out our lineup as the final pick on our roster for this week’s Wells Fargo Championship.
