PGA Picks: Tiger In the Field for the Waste Management Phoenix Open

Tiger Woods makes his awaited return this week in Phoenix.

PGA Odds: Tiger Woods will be in action for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which begins on Thursday, but he is not the tournament favorite. Tiger has not won a tournament since 2013 but it should be noted he missed most of last season due to injury. Tiger is back and healthy and he has high hopes for the 2015 season. Tiger is listed with odds of 20-1 to win this week’s tournament which is behind co-favorites Jordan Spieth and Bubba Watson who are listed at 14-1.

Tiger’s Return

The focus in Phoenix this week will be on Tiger’s return. There are a number of interesting prop bets circling Tiger’s comeback this season. There are props up on whether Tiger will win a tournament, a major, miss a tourney due to injury and even if he will break up with girlfriend Lindsay Vonn.

Tiger has not shown winning form in over a year so it is hard to see him returning and winning this week. Tiger has not played at the TPC Scottsdale since 2001. He played at the Phoenix Open as a rookie in 1997 and tied for 18th. Tiger normally doesn’t start his season this early but he needs all the work he can get. Tiger has won his first event of a season seven times in his career, most recently in 2013 when he won the Farmers Insurance Open. He has finished in the top ten 14 out of 18 times in his first PGA Tour event of the season.

PGA Picks

I hit a nice longshot last week when Bill Haas came through at golf betting odds of 25-1. I think there is a lot of value on the board again this week. I will go with Patrick Reed at odds of 22-1, Hideki Matsuyama at odds of 22-1 and Gary Woodland at odds of 35-1.
