Philadelphia Flyers vs. Arizona Coyotes Odds

Arizona enters the matchup as the favorite with a -130 moneyline. The line for Philadelphia sits at +110, and the Over/Under (O/U) is set at 6 goals (-115 for the over, -105 for the under).

The Coyotes are 7-5 straight up (SU) and have earned 2.7 units for moneyline bettors this season. That early-season winning percentage is a surprising improvement over the 29-53 record from last year’s regular season campaign. Seven of the team’s 12 outings have gone under the total, while four have gone over and just one has pushed. Thus far, the team is 4-2 SU at home.

Arizona’s converted on just 14.7 percent of its power play opportunities this year, a figure that’s ranked 25th overall in the NHL. On the other hand, its penalty kill is rated second overall, and it’s successfully killed off 92.1 percent of all penalties.

As a team, Arizona has been penalized 4.1 times per game this season. Last year, that number was at 3.3, the fifth-best figure in the league. After serving an average of 7.8 penalty minutes per game a year ago, the team’s had to kill penalties for 8.8 minutes per outing this season.

With a .929 save percentage and 27.4 saves per game, Antti Raanta (five wins, four losses) has been the most dependable option in goal for the Coyotes this year. If the Coyotes decide to give him a breather, however, the team might go with Darcy Kuemper (2-1-1 record, .957 save percentage, 1.34 goals against average).

The Coyotes will continue to rely on offensive production from Clayton Keller and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Keller (nine points) has produced five goals and four assists and has recorded multiple points in two different games this year. Ekman-Larsson has one goal and six assists to his name and has recorded a point in four contests.

In the other locker room, Philadelphia is 6-8 straight up (SU) and has lost 2.8 units for moneyline bettors this year. 10 of its outings have gone over the total, while four have gone under the total and none have pushed. Philadelphia’s 4-4 SU as the visiting team this season.

Philadelphia has converted on just 14.6 percent of its power play chances this season, a mark that’s ranked 25th in the NHL. On the other hand, its penalty kill unit is ranked 31st overall and it’s successfully killed off 68.6 percent of all penalties.

Philadelphia’s skaters have been called for penalties 4.7 times per game this season, a number that has grown some from the 3.6 penalties per game given up a year ago. After serving an average of 8.6 penalty minutes per game a season ago the team’s had to stave off opponent power plays for 10.6 minutes per matchup this year.

Brian Elliott (3.10 goals against average and .893 save percentage) has been the primary option in goal for Philadelphia. Elliott is averaging 25.0 saves per game and owns a 5-5 record.

Claude Giroux (four goals, 10 assists) has been one of the top playmaking threats for the visiting Flyers.
