Michael Beasley has agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Pistons and will be playing in the NBA for another year.

The 30-year-old forward did sign a two-month contract with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China in February and was expected to stay in China for another season. However, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Beasley agreed to play for the Detroit Pistons in the upcoming NBA campaign. Although it was not mentioned how much the former second overall pick would earn in the 2019-20 season, it is likely going to be the veteran’s minimum.

Beasley will have to sit out the first five games of the season as the NBA suspended him for violating the league’s anti-drug policy. Interestingly, the Pistons will now have the first and second overall picks of the 2008 NBA Draft after adding former Chicago Bull Derrick Rose this summer.

Also, it will be intriguing to see if Beasley can get extensive minutes under head coach Dwane Casey. Casey is known for his particular focus on the defense, which is not Beasley’s strength.
