Raw’s next Pay-Per-View, Roadblock: End of the Line, is this Sunday. While Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon finalize the card, we also have The New Day trying to retain their Raw Tag Team Championships against Cesaro, Sheamus, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson.
The New Day (c) vs. Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson – Raw Tag Team Championship
If The New Day retain their Raw Tag Team Championships tonight, they will tie Demolition’s record for the longest-reining Tag Team Championship title reign of all-time. The biggest problem is that they do not have to be involved in the finish to lose the belts.
Kofi Kingston tags in by tapping Karl Anderson behind Cesaro’s back, and they take advantage of the confusion to retain the titles and become the longest-reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history. Winners, and STILL Raw Tag Team Champions: The New Day
Braun Strowman vs. Curtis Axel
A few weeks ago, Curtis Axel was in the potential beginning of a storyline with Bo Dallas. Now, he is in a squash match with Braun Strowman. Winner: Braun Strowman
Backstage Segment
Sami Zayn marches into Mick Foley’s office and demands a rematch against Braun Strowman. Foley won’t do it because he doesn’t believe that Sami Zayn can do it. Zayn says he doesn’t want to be on Raw anymore (with cheers from the crowd), and Foley agrees, planning to call Daniel Bryan of SmackDown to work out a trade.
Ariya Daivari vs. Lince Dorado
Ariya Daivari seemed like he would be lost in the shuffle of the Cruiserweight Division, but he has been starting to make a name for himself. He had a series of matches with Jack Gallagher over the last week and a half, and attempted to injure Gallagher’s knee after losing one of their matches.
During the match, Jack Gallagher appears and announces his intentions to interfere in the match. Normally, he doesn’t condone such ungentlemanly behavior, but Daivari is “a scoundrel.” They proceed to brawl and the match is over. Winner (via disqualification): Ariya Daivari
The Rollins Report feat. Kevin Owens
Almost every top WWE Superstar has one thing: a history of great matches a talk show. Tonight, Seth Rollins gets his turn. On Sunday, Rollins takes on Chris Jericho, but for now, Rollins tries to get “answers” from Kevin Owens.
Owens starts making his way to the ring, then decides to get his own stool and do the interview from the ramp. Earlier in the night, The New Day accidentally got champagne all over Stephanie McMahon, so Owens has an announcement: Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho will challenge The New Day for the Raw Tag Team Championships.
Brian Kendrick vs. TJ Perkins
It’s amazing how much I’ve forgotten about TJ Perkins. He was the Cruiserweight Champion about a month ago, and is in a triple threat match for the title on Sunday against Kendrick and Rich Swann. He is great in the ring, but he lack of promo skills or character work has made him quite forgettable in a bloated division.
Perkins goes for the kneebar that has put Kendrick away before, but Kendrick escaped and hit Sliced Bread No. 2 to go into Roadblock with some momentum.
Backstage Segment
Mick Foley approaches Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, and adds them to the Tag Team Championship match later tonight, making it the second triple threat tag team match tonight.
Bayley vs. Alicia Fox
Alicia Fox thought that Bayley was making a move on Cedric Alexander by giving him one of her “Bayley Bears,” so she challenged Bayley to a match last week. Fox would lose, and tonight she hopes to prove that it was just a fluke.
Well, it wasn’t. One more Bayley-to-Belly later, Bayley gets her second consecutive win over Fox. Winner: Bayley
Sami Zayn vs. Jinder Mahal
Whether or not Mick Foley’s trade happens, this could be Sami Zayn’s last match on Raw.
If it is, he ended his Monday Night Raw career with a Helluva Kick to Jinder Mahal. Winner: Sami Zayn
After the match, Mick Foley makes his way to the ring. He rants for a while, pretends that there’s a trade for Eva Marie, and eventually gives Zayn his match against Braun Strowman at Roadblock: End of the Line.
The New Day (c) vs. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns – Raw Tag Team Championships
This match is a result of Xavier Woods getting champagne on Stephanie McMahon, and Mick Foley trying to be on par with her. While we thought New Day was in the clear for getting that title reign record, they have one more match to go. Rollins and Reigns have been Tag Team Champions before when they were part of the Shield, and with JeriKO’s friendship being unstable, Rollins and Reigns are the biggest threats to the New Day’s reign.
Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens get into an argument, and Seth Rollins takes advantage to hit Jericho with a Pedigree. Big E drags Rollins out of the ring, and Xavier Woods gingerly covers Jericho to yet again retain the Raw Tag Team Championships tonight. Winners, and STILL Raw Tag Team Champions: The New Day
