A couple weeks before Money in the Bank, Monday Night Raw features a women’s gauntlet match in the main event. Other highlights include Braun Strowman vs. Finn Balor again and Seth Rollins vs. Jinder Mahal for the Intercontinental Championship.
Braun Strowman vs. Finn Balor
Last week, Braun Strowman and Finn Balor put on a great main event. Kurt Angle enjoyed the match so match that he wants a rematch to kick this week off. The only difference is that Kevin Owens, who joins them in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, is on commentary.
Unlike last week, Finn Balor looks to have the match won when Kevin Owens attacks him and ruins the match. Owens grabs a ladder from under the ring and assaults him, giving a preview of Money in the Bank. Winner (via disqualification): Finn Balor
Seth Rollins (c) vs. Jinder Mahal (w/Sunil Singh) – Intercontinental Championship
After a tag team match that ended in chaos last week, Seth Rollins’ weekly Intercontinental Championship defense is against the Modern Day Maharaja, Jinder Mahal. This match starts by interrupting an Elias segment where he refused to sing for five minutes.
Mahal uses a steel chair while the referee isn’t looking, but Rollins kicks out of the following pin. Later in the match, frustration gets the best of Rollins when the champ grabs a chair and assaults Mahal and Sunil Singh. As Rollins celebrates on top of the commentary table, he is sent flying off when Elias hits him in the back with a guitar. Winner (via disqualification): Jinder Mahal
Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Roode
In another Money in the Bank preview, Kevin Owens takes on Bobby Roode.
Owens manages to roll up Roode for the win, but he is immediately interrupted by a furious Braun Strowman. Strowman powerslams Owens twice before slamming Roode as well, just because. Winner: Kevin Owens
Match Announcement
At Money in the Bank, Bobby Lashley will go one-on-one with Sami Zayn.
Drew McIntyre (w/Dolph Ziggler) vs. Chad Gable
Last week, Chad Gable had a competitive match with Dolph Ziggler that ended in a loss. Tonight, he has a chance to redeem himself against Ziggler’s partner, Drew McIntyre.
Unfortunately for Gable, McIntyre dominates him for the entire match. After tossing Gable around like he’s nothing, McIntyre lands the Claymore kick to secure the win. Winner: Drew McIntyre
Gauntlet Match
With one spot left in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, all of the remaining women on the Raw roster have one last chance in a gauntlet match to qualify. This match starts with Bayley and Liv Morgan.
As soon as the match starts, Bayley hits the Bayley-to-Belly to put Liv Morgan away. Next up, Sarah Logan. Eliminated: Liv Morgan
Logan attempts a deadlift suplex, but Bayley counters into a roll-up to eliminate Riott Squad member #2. Before the next competitor can enter the match, they team up and assault the former Raw Women’s Champion. Of course, Ruby Riott herself is the third entrant. Eliminated: Sarah Logan
Thanks to the assault, Ruby Riott hits the Riott Kick to put Bayley away. Her next opponent is Titus Worldwide’s statistician, Dana Brooke. Brooke looks to be the dark horse in the match, but Riott immediately eliminates her. After Dana Brooke is former 6-time Women’s Champion, Mickie James. Eliminated: Bayley & Dana Brooke
James looks to finish off Riott, but Riott turns it into a roll-up and grabs the tights to cheat through one more elimination. This leaves the last competitor, Sasha Banks. Eliminated: Mickie James
Morgan and Logan try to prevent Banks from locking in the Bank Statement, but they fail and Riott is forced to tap out. Banks wins and is the final woman to qualify in the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Winner (via submission): Sasha Banks
