This week on the Respect The Hustle Podcast, analyst William Whelan determines that it’s finally time to start discussing the NCAA Tournament Bubble and some seeding projections. It is February, after all.
Who does Whelan think is out, is in, or is right on the edge? Check out the five teams whose profiles he broke down in detail.
UCLA — The Bruins have let too many opportunities slip by while suffering head scratching losses, like the one they let go in Pullman against lowly Washington State. At this point, can we really trust a Steve Alford team to turn things around in a meaningful way?
Georgetown — When you have the kinds of losses that the Hoyas have, you really don’t deserve to Dance. Still, sometimes a few big wins can get you right back in the thick of things. Georgetown has a ways to go, though, as Whelan calls them the farthest away of any team on the show.
Butler — After starting the year hot, things have quickly gone downhill for the Bulldogs. While they’re not out of the tournament at this point, if they continue to miss out on chances to take down some of the Big East’s elite, they could set themselves up for one crushing loss.
LSU — If the committee judges this group as it currently is, the Tigers have a real shot. If not, they could be in trouble, as there wasn’t a single team in the country that under achieved worse than LSU in the non-conference.
UConn — The Huskies are in, for now. But they’ve got plenty of challenges coming up that will either help them cement their spot in the field of 68 or keep them out of it. Whelan has more in the podcast.
