Robert Sarver Declares Plans to Sell Suns

The official statement from Robert Sarver reads, “Nearly two decades of developing organizations that brought people together through the unifying force of professional men’s and women’s basketball are now overshadowed by words that I greatly regret.”

“I’m a man of religion, and I think there is a way to forgiveness via atonement. I anticipated that the one-year commissioner’s punishment would give me the necessary time to concentrate, make atonement, and remove my own controversies from the clubs that I and a lot of other people support.”

“But it has sadly become apparent that this is no longer feasible in our present atmosphere of intolerance: whatever good I have done, or may still do, is negated by things I have said in the past. I’m starting the process of looking for purchasers for the Suns and Mercury because of these reasons. In the meanwhile, I’ll keep trying to improve myself and carry on giving back to the community in significant ways.”
