The Yankees’ C.C. Sabathia is no longer one of Major League Baseball’s most dominant pitchers, but he’s still effective and has been around long enough that he’s hitting significant milestones. The latest came Wednesday night, when he became the 17th pitcher — and just the third lefty — to reach 3,000 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Bryce Harper’s honeymoon is officially over in Philadelphia — he heard boos after a night of struggles offensively and defensively.
No. 3,000 for CC Sabathia came in a late-night game a long way from New York, but it was still a magical moment for the Yankees. Congrats, CC.

Philadelphia fans have a reputation for a reason. Bryce Harper better perform consistently, or you get the feeling he could be a frequent target over the next … oh, 13 years.
Bryce Harper booed at Citizens Bank Park, he’s hitting .188 in his last 22 games. Who could have seen this coming? 🤷♂️

The Cubs face a difficult situation with Addison Russell, a promising young shortstop who was suspended under baseball’s domestic violence policy. They’ll kick the can down the road on what to do with Russell by sending him to Triple-A when he returns.
Don’t cheer Addison Russell when he returns to Wrigley Field, #Cubs fans (though I know you will). My column: https://t.co/bv6dLOZXsR

Mallex Smith had a terrific year last year for Tampa Bay, who traded him to Seattle. But after an injury in Spring Training, Smith has struggled mightily. He was sent to Triple-A Tacoma to see if he can reset his season.
Mallex Smith in 2018 with Rays: .296/.367/.406, 40 stolen bases in 141 games.
Mallex Smith in 2019 with Mariners: .165/.255/.247, 8 stolen bases in 27 games.
Clearly was pressing in last two weeks, he’ll get a chance to regain his stride in Tacoma.

Coming the other direction is the Reds’ Nick Senzel, a hot prospect who reportedly will be called up for his MLB debut this week.
Like this if you want to see Nick Senzel in a Reds uniform at GABP this weekend. 🔴⚾ #FreeSenzel #BornToBaseball
