There are perfect homestands, perfect road trips and perfect games in baseball, each with their own level of excitement. A perfect inning, on the other hand, happens all the time. To get people hyped about a single inning, you’ve got to drill down deeper: An immaculate inning. Nine pitches, three strikeouts. We had one of those in the MLB on Wednesday night. We also had a seven-RBI night from David Bote of the Cubs, who had other big news on Wednesday. And, perhaps becoming the most rare of all, we had two complete games from completely unexpected sources.
Even when you’re as good as Chris Sale, the immaculate inning is difficult to pull off.

Yes, yes, David Bote was spectactular for the Cubs against the Rockies, but Craig Kimbrel was the name on every Cubs’ fans mind Wednesday. The team couldn’t quite officially announce that, though, so the social media team had some fun.

Two dominating pitching performances from (checks notes) Jason Vargas and Mike Leake! Seriously, you’re crazy if you bet on baseball.
Jason Vargas just threw a complete game shutout.
Go skydiving. Go get a job you probably shouldn’t get. Buy Mega Millions tickets. Message your dream woman. You can do anything today folks.

Mike Leake records his 5th career complete game (last: 9/30/15 vs. LAD w/SF). #Mariners

The best part of a walk-off is the Gatorade shower. The worst part of a walk-off is the Gatorade shower. Just ask the Rangers’ Delino DeShields Jr, who won it for Texas on Wednesday.
