San Jose State Spartans vs UNLV Rebels Odds

The nation’s second-leading rusher, Tyler Ervin (801 yards, 10 TDs), will be on display when the San Jose State Spartans play the Nevada-Las Vegas Rebels. While this hasn’t been the season it hoped to have, UNLV (2-3) has shown signs of life lately, winning two of its last three. Players will take the field Saturday, Oct 10 at 9:00 p.m. ET and the game will air on CI.

UNLV beat Nevada 23-17 last week. Devonte Boyd had a good game in the win, registering four receptions for 39 yards. San Jose State didn’t have the same success as UNLV, falling to Auburn 35-21. Billy Freeman had a solid outing for the Spartans, totaling six receptions for 59 yards. Tyler Winston added 62 receiving yards and a TD on four receptions.

Oddsmakers have deemed the UNLV and San Jose State game as an even matchup and the Over/Under (O/U) is presently unavailable.

Despite a 2-3 Straight Up (SU) record this season, the Rebels have fared well Against The Spread (ATS) with a 4-1 record. The Rebels have America’s 21st-ranked running attack with 224.2 yards per game. Transitioning to the UNLV defense, there are a few things to keep in mind when it is on the field. One of the keys to the game will be whether the Spartans can protect the ball against the ambitious defense of the Rebels, who rank 25th in the nation with 2.2 turnovers per game. On special teams, San Jose State may give up some big plays to the Rebels in the return game. The Spartans have allowed 126.8 return yards per game, making them one of the worst in Division I.

Across the field, the Spartans are successful ATS with a 3-2 record this season even though they have a 2-3 SU record. San Jose State might plan a ground attack. The Rebels defense is usually ineffective at containing the run, giving up 4.9 yards per carry. Switching gears to the San Jose State defense, there are certain areas where it measures up well against the Rebels. Opponents have had difficulty with San Jose State’s second-ranked pass defense, which gives up just 97.2 passing yards per game. San Jose State fans don’t normally have much to complain about when it comes to the refs. The Spartans record very few penalties, ranking eighth with only 4.2 per game.
