The San Jose Sharks got off to a great start in the Western Conference Finals. San Jose pounded St. Louis 6-3 in the opener with two goals from Timo Meier and two goals from Logan Couture, while Joe Pavelski continued his incredible turnaround with two points in the Sharks victory. They will look to go up 2-0 on Monday night, while the Boston Bruins are out to take a commanding 2-0 lead this afternoon.
Got that first win down. 💪

San Jose made the most of some sloppy puck handling from the Blues in Game 1. The Sharks continually pounced on turnovers in the neutral zone to gain an edge on the Blues, and five of their six goals came at even strength. St. Louis won’t outscore San Jose in this series if the games become high scoring, so they need to buckle down on defense.

Carl Gunnarsson was a late scratch for St. Louis in Game 1 with an unspecified lower body injury. The Blues certainly missed his presence in the first game, and he is considered questionable to play in Game 2 on Monday night.
Tuukka Rask's extra rest during the regular season is paying off for the Bruins in the Stanley Cup Playoffs heading into Game 2 against the Hurricanes (3 p.m. ET; NBC, CBC, SN, TVAS). https://t.co/sKPkRGnPeS

Tuukka Rask has been lights out for Boston this postseason. Rask has often faced more shots than his counterpart, but he has handled himself well with a 2.02 GAA and a .938 save percentage this postseason. He only played in 46 games during the regular season, so he has been well prepared for a long playoff grind.
It was the Kaapo Kakko show at the world championship https://t.co/TXjF5sBNrz

Kaapo Kakko has been fantastic at the 2019 IIHF World Championship so far. He scored two goals to lead Team Finland over Team Canada in his country’s opener, and he netted a hat trick against hosts Slovakia to take Suomi to 2-0. Kakko was seen as the second-best prospect coming into the 2019 NHL Draft, but many are believing he might be a better prospect than Jack Hughes now.
I’m not gonna say Rick Bowness is a recycled coaching candidate… but he was the Senators first coach as a franchise.
He also coached against the Pens Cup-winner in a playoff series.

Rick Bowness is the newest coach being rumored to take over the Ottawa Senators, and the public reaction to the team’s interest in him is…lukewarm at best. Bowness was Ottawa’s very first coach and he seems an odd choice 24 years later.
