Santa Cruz vs Frampton Odds For Saturday

Santa Cruz vs Frampton Odds

Santa Cruz vs Frampton Odds – This Saturday night, July 30th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York Showtime Boxing returns with a full night of fights headlined by the Leo Santa Cruz (32-0-1) featherweight world title defense against Carl Frampton (22-0).

The contract for the fight was signed several months ago, so both men have had a lot of time to prepare and build up the hype for the fight. Both men are undefeated, and for Frampton, who is from England, it is his second fight outside of his home country. His first time out on US soil, he won a unanimous decision from Alejandro Gonzalez Jr after being dropped twice in the opening round.

Frampton is moving up in weight class from super bantamweight, where he held multiple world titles. Frmapton’s last fight was a very hyped all-British showdown with Scott Quigg that saw Frampton emerge with Quigg’s WBA world title. In terms of delivering on the hype, the Frampton vs Quigg fight was a complete dud. Frampton won the early rounds in tentative fashion against an even more tentative Quigg. At the end of the fight it was Quigg who actually looked to be in better shape. If Frampton fights like he did against Quigg, he will lose this fight.

But Frmapton feels he will be stronger and more competitive at the higher weight, without the harsh weight cut. Santa Cruz is also moving up in weight, but he has been at featherweight a long time. Furthermore, santa Cruz has won weight classes in three different weight classes already, and just one look at the two men will tell you that Santa Cruz has hieght and reach advantages over Quigg.

Also highly anticipated is the return of Mikey Garcia. Garcia had run his record to 34-0 back in January of 2014 when he defeated Juan carlos Burgos, but he then proceeded to take off the nxt two and a half years. Nevertheless, he is still just 29 years old and Garcia is not back just for a “challenge” he is back to go to the top. In interviews, Garcia has stated that he feels he will be a much better and more complete fighter.

For Garcia, this is just a return to get his feet wet. Opponent Elio Rojas (24-2) is going to be game, but Rojas too has been inactive. In fact, he has fought just one fight since May of 2012, an eight round unanimous decision over a journeyman fighter back in August of 2014. If Garcia is even back at 80% of where he was when he left, Rojas has no chance.
