Saturday British Boxing Odds – Warrington vs Amagasa and More

Saturday British Boxing Odds

Saturday British Boxing Odds – The First Direct Arena in Leeds hosts Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing this coming Saturday, April 16th with an eleven fight card set to air on SKY in the United Kingdom.

WBC International Champion Josh Warrington will be looking to stay undefeated (22-0) as he takes on the challenge of Japan’s Hisashi Amagasa (30-5-2). Amagasa fought world #1 Guillermo Rigondeaux back in December of 2014 and lost in the 11th round, but a gutsy, “never say Die” performance by Amagasa left his stock elevated. He went 2-0 in 2015, but this is the first time he is fighting away from his native Japan.

Warrington needs a win here to continue building a case for a world title shot. He has also held Commonwealth and European titles at 126 lbs, so Warrington has done just about everything he can do title-wise except win a world title. That shot could come in his next outing with a win here against Amagasa.

One thing is for sure, Amagasa can be counted on to leave it in the ring with his performance. Amagasa will have advantages in height and reach in the bout. Despite having a few blemishes on his record, Amagasa is a fine 15-1 in his last sixteen fights, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Rigondeaux. For Warrington, this is likely his toughest test to date.

Staurt Hall (19-4-2) takes on Mexico’s Rodrigo Guerrero (24-5-1) in the bout that has the most competitive line of the evening. Hall has won three fights in a row since taking a loss in a world title bid to Rances Bartelemy. In 2014 he had a rough stretch, going 0-2-1 in the calendar year. Hall has faced some of England’s best in Jamie McDonnell and Lee Haskins, sohe has to feel with a little luck a world title is attainable.

Saturday British Boxing Odds

Eddie Hearn just promoted last week’s big Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua show at the O2 Arena in London, so the tireless promoter deserves credit for not taking a week off. This card is not as big as last weeks, but the show does present good quality regional action. The 140 lb bout between Dave Ryan (17-9) andMartin Haikali is for the vacant Commonwealth belt and may still get a line up at the books.

A  cruiserweight fight is getting attention at the books as a pair of undefeated fighters eet in a six round bout. Russ Henshaw  (6-0) takes on Isaac Chamberlain (4-0) in a fight for British bragging rights at 199 lbs. The lines available appear below, check back later in the week to see if additional lines are made available.

Featherweight 12 rounds –
Hisashi Amagasa +525
Josh Warrington -750

Bantamweight 12 rounds –
Stuart Hall -120
Rodrigo Guerrero +100

Cruiserweight 6 rounds –
Russ Henshaw +1200
Isaac Chamberlain -2250
