Seahawks Dominating Again
The Seattle Seahawks are looking at lot like the team that won the Super Bowl last season. The defense is once again fearsome and ranked #1 in the NFL and the offense is potent with Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson leading the way.
“Trust me, I know. It feels like the same season as last year,” Seahawks safety Earl Thomas said, “That’s who we are. When we step on the football field, man, there’s a presence. And everybody knows it, because you can feel the other team looking at us.”
The Seahawks have won eight of their last nine games and the defense has held their last five opponents to a combined 33 points.
Same Winning Formula
The Seahawks are winning with the same formula they used last season. They dominate on defense, run the ball and get big plays from Russell Wilson. Opposing defenses have to load up to stuff the run and then Wilson hits big plays. He not only throws the ball effectively, he is the best running quarterback in the NFL. He had 427 rushing/passing yards in the win over Arizona. The Seahawks have outscored their last five opponents by a combined 114-33.
Not many teams go into Seattle and win against the Seahawks and the 12th man and it is looking more and more likely that to get to the Super Bowl a team will have to win in Seattle.
Repeating as Super Bowl Champs
It has not been easy in NFL history to win the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons as only seven teams have ever done it. The New England Patriots were the last team to win the Super Bowl in two straight seasons as they won in 2004 and in 2005.
The Denver Broncos did it in 1998 and 1999. The Dallas Cowboys pulled off the feat in 1993-1994. The San Francisco 49ers won it all in 1989 and 1990. The Pittsburgh Steelers won it in 1979 and 1980 and they also did it in 1975 and 1976. The Miami Dolphins did it in 1973 and 1974 and the Green Bay Packers won the first two Super Bowls in 1967 and 1968.
