Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals Betting Preview

Arizona is playing the role of underdog and is currently getting 3 points in this Sunday NFC matchup. The Seahawks are also receiving -150 moneyline odds while the Cardinals are +130. Oddsmakers have placed the over/under (O/U) at 37.5 points, and if one team can create a bunch of points early, it’ll probably create a decent betting opportunity in-game.

Odds have moved some from where they were initially posted. The line opened at 3.5 and the game’s total was originally set at 37.

The Seahawks have lost 1.0 unit so far in 2018 and are 1-1-1 against the spread (ATS). The team’s posted an Over-Under mark of 1-2. The Cardinals have lost 3.3 units for moneyline bettors this season. They’re 1-2 ATS and have an O/U record of 0-3.

The Seahawks have gone 1-2 straight up (SU) and the team has yet to face any NFC West opponents this year. The Cardinals are 0-3 SU overall and 0-1 SU against divisional foes.

The Seahawks are on the upswing after a 24-13 win over Dallas in Week 3. The Seahawks defense allowed the Cowboys to rush for 166 yards on 19 attempts. On the offensive side of the ball, Russell Wilson completed 16-of-26 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Carson (only 102 rushing yards on 32 attempts, one TD) propelled the running attack while Tyler Lockett (four receptions, 77 yards, one TD) and Nick Vannett (four catches, 27 yards) shared the receiving duties in the win.

In Week 3, Chicago knocked off this Arizona team by a score of 16-14. As a group, the team collectively completed 17-of-26 passes for 193 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Sam Bradford went 13-for-19 for 157 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while Josh Rosen was four-of-seven for 36 yards and one interception. David Johnson (31 yards on 12 rush attempts) mounted the running game while Christian Kirk (seven receptions, 90 yards) and Johnson (four catches, 30 yards, one TD) led the pass-catching attack in the loss.

Seattle has run the ball on 44.8 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Arizona has a rush percentage of 35.6 percent. The Seahawks have run for 84 yards per game (including 0 per game against West opponents) and have one score on the ground this year. The Cards are averaging 58 rushing yards per game (54 in conference) and have just one rush TD.

If the results so far this season are any indication, then it’s looking like the Cards might have the more disruptive lines up front. Their offensive line has yielded just seven sacks while their D-line has registered eight sacks. The Seahawks O-line has allowed 14 sacks and their defense has sacked opposing QBs just eight times.

The Seahawks offensive scheme has logged 239 yards per game in the air overall (0 per game versus conference opposition) and has seven passing TD so far. The Cards have put up 145 pass yards per outing (90.0 against NFC competition) and have two total pass score.

Seattle seems to have an edge when it comes to limiting the pass. The team has allowed opponents to rush for an average of 133 yards and pass for 232 yards per game. The Arizona D has allowed 276.3 yards per game to opposing passers and 131.3 yards per game on the ground. The Seahawks are allowing an adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) of just 3.92 to opponents, while the Cards have given up a 7.17 ANY/A.

Passing-wise, Wilson has amassed 490 yards on the year. He’s connected on 59 percent of his 59 attempts with five passing scores and two interceptions. Wilson’s got a 6.48 adjusted net yards per pass attempt, including 5.99 over the last two outings.

In the home locker room, Sam Bradford has connected on 33-of-53 passes for 310 yards, two TDs and three INTs. Bradford’s ANY/A sits at a terrible 3.26 for the season and 2.54 over his past two outings.
