VALENCIA
The Bats continued with magnificent displays beating Espanyol on the road, 2:0, in the previous round of the Spanish La Liga. Espanyol had a couple of great chances in the first 45 minutes of the game, but in the end, Valencia deservedly won all three points. It was their eighth consecutive victory, fourth on the road, while The Bats are still undefeated.
After the first twelve rounds of the Spanish La Liga Valencia is sitting at the second place of the table with 30 points, a 32:11 goal difference, and a 9-3-0 record, four points behind the leader Barcelona, and six points ahead of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. At home, they have recorded five wins and one draw with a 16:2 goal difference, while on the road they have earned 14 points with a 4-2-0 record and a 16:9 goal difference. Their attack is the second most efficient in the La Liga with just one goal less on the account than Barca’s.

The 26-year old forward Rodrigo bagged seven goals in 12 matches so far, also adding four assists to his name, while the 21-year old striker Santi Mina scored five goals in 12 games thus far. The manager Marcelino Garcia Toral doesn’t have serious injury worries among the squad, besides the centre-back Jeison Murillo (osteitis pubis) who’s doubtful for the next match.
BARCELONA
Barca is marching through the Spanish La Liga as they recorded 11 victories and one draw in the previous twelve rounds. In their last La Liga game against Leganes, they had a brilliant Marc-Andre ter Stegen between the sticks, who made some topnotch saves to keep Barca’s net intact. On the other side of the field, Luis Suarez finally bagged a couple of goals, as he couldn’t find the net for five matches in a row in all competitions.
Barcelona is currently topping the Spanish La Liga table with 34 points and a 33:4 goal difference. Their attack os the most efficient in the league, while their defense is the best with just four goals conceded. They have a perfect record at home out of six matches with a 20:2 goal difference, while their only draw came against Atletico Madrid on the road, 1:1, in the eighth round. Barca has scored 11 goals in the first halves, and 22 goals after the break.
Lionel Messi is playing in a terrific form this season, as the little magician has scored 12 goals in 12 La Liga matches, adding four assists to his name. The manager Ernesto Valverde will miss some important players for the next match against Valencia, as Javier Mascherano (muscle injury), Sergi Roberto (hamstring injury), Ousmane Dembele (thigh muscle rupture), Rafinha (meniscus injury), and Andre Gomes (hamstring injury) are all sidelined, while Gerard Pique will have to serve the yellow card suspension.
VALENCIA vs. BARCELONA – Match Prediction
I’m pretty sure we’ll see a tremendous game, hopefully with some goals on both sides. However, I think Valencia stand a chance here, as Barca has a lot of problems with injuries, particularly at the back.
MY PICK: Valencia DC 1X (+110)
ADDITIONAL PICK: Over 3.5 Goals (+117)

VILLARREAL
The Yellow Submarine is playing a quite entertaining football recently, and after a 1:1 draw with Athletic Bilbao in the previous round of the Spanish La Liga, Villarreal vanquished Astana on the road last Thursday, 3:2, to secure the first spot of the UEFA Europa League Group A. In the previous ten matches in all competitions Villarreal won six times, losing only to Ponferradina in the first leg of the Spanish Copa del Rey round of 32.
After the first twelve rounds of the Spanish La Liga Villarreal is sitting at the sixth place with 21 points, a 19:12 goal difference and a 6-3-3 record, three points behind Atletico Madrid at the fourth spot. They were excellent at home so far, recording four victories and one draw with a 12:1 goal difference, while there were some problems on the road where they recorded two wins, two draws, and three losses with a 7:11 goal difference.
The 26-year old striker Cedric Bakambu is the team’s leading scorer with eight goals in 11 appearances, while Carlos Bacca and Nicola Sansone bagged three goals each. The 22-year old winger Samu Castillejo is the best assistant with four dishes in nine matches this season, also adding a goal to his name. The 21-year old talented playmaker Pablo Fornals, who joined the club this summer from Malaga, is playing in a great form recently, and he made three assists in 12 appearances this season.
The manager Javier Calleja is still without goalkeepers Sergio Asenjo and Andres Fernandez due to cruciate ligament ruptures, while Samu Castillejo is doubtful for the next match with a muscle injury.
SEVILLA
Sevilla made a superb comeback last Tuesday against Liverpool at home in the UEFA Champions League Round 5, earning a 3:3 draw after they were three goals behind after the first 45 minutes of the game. Last weekend, Sevilla made another comeback beating Celta Vigo in the 12th round of the Spanish La Liga after The Sky Blues took the lead in the first half. It was their fourth victory in the previous six matches in all competitions, along with a 2:1 defeat against Barcelona, and a draw with Liverpool.
After the first twelve rounds of the Spanish La Liga Sevilla is in the fifth spot of the table with 22 points, a 14:12 goal difference, and a 7-1-4 goal difference, while they lost three out of their last five La Liga games. Sevilla was excellent on the home soil recording five wins and one draw with an 11:3 goal difference, while they were awful on the road with two victories and four losses, and a 3:9 goal difference.
The 26-year old striker Luis Muriel, who arrived this summer from Sampdoria, is the team’s leading scorer with three goals in nine La Liga appearances so far, while Wissam Ben Yedder, Ganso, and Nolito are all behind him with two goals each. The 25-year old winger Pablo Sarabia is the best assist-maker with three dishes in ten appearances this season. The 32-year old winger Jesus Navas is completely out of form, as he scored just one goal in ten matches thus far with no assists on his account.
The manager Eduardo Berizzo is diagnosed with cancer, and we’ll see what will happen in the following days. The defenders Nicolas Pareja (osteitis pubis), and Daniel Carrico (muscle injury) will probably miss another match.
VILLARREAL vs. SEVILLA – Match Prediction
Villarreal conceded just one goal in five matches on the home soil, while Sevilla bagged only three goals in six away matches, so I think it is the right time for some goals on both ends at Estadio de la Ceramica.
MY PICK: Both Teams to Score YES (-135)
