The St. Louis Blues will have their parade today, and that means Jordan Binnington might finally crack a smile. Binnington has been noted for his stoicism throughout the Blues’ run to the Stanley Cup, and the goalkeeper, who should be a lock to win the Calder Trophy, will probably have another reason to smile this offseason.

St. Louis Blues’ General Manager Doug Armstrong has already come out and stated that locking Binnington up to a long-term deal is a priority in the next two weeks. Binnington is set to become a restricted free agent, and the Blues don’t want to lose the goaltender that just took them to their first Stanley Cup.

Garret Sparks looks to be on the move this offseason. Sparks was seen as a star in the making after putting up insane numbers in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears and the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, but he has struggled to make the jump to the NHL. He has a 3.09 GAA and .898 save percentage in 37 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hockey players are a different breed. They play through injuries that would sideline players in other sports for weeks, and we saw confirmation of that when Zdeno Chara shared the extent of his injuries. Chara’s jaw was fractured in multiple places, and it is expected to take 5-6 weeks for his jaw to heal.

A few bettors have cashed pretty sizable tickets after St. Louis won the Stanley Cup, but that’s just business as usual for sportsbooks. Following Las Vegas’ run last year and St. Louis’ run this year, you might have thought the sportsbooks would reevaluate their strategy, but that hasn’t been the case.
