Jaden Schwartz was the man of the hour for the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. Schwartz notched a hat trick in leading the Blues’ 5-0 rout of the San Jose Sharks in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead in the Western Conference Finals. St. Louis will get the chance to close out the series at home on Tuesday night, with the fans singing “Gloria” at the top of their lungs.

San Jose is in dire straits, and the Sharks might not have three of their best players in St. Louis on Tuesday night after they left yesterday’s game with injuries. Erik Karlsson was dealing with a groin injury coming into the game, and he was clearly much less than 100 percent. Tomas Hertl and Joe Pavelski each left after getting hit high by Blues players.

Some of the top women’s hockey players in the world continue to press forward and are taking the steps to unionize. It was announced that over 200 players had agreed to form the Professional Women’s Hockey Association on Monday, and that the paperwork was filed on Friday. That means there is likely to be a prolonged impasse between the players and the National Women’s Hockey League.
