The Stanley Cup Finals Start Tonight, Team Finland Wins Gold, and More

After six days without playoff hockey, it comes back in full force tonight when the Stanley Cup Finals get underway. The St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins are both itching to get back out on the ice, and the atmosphere in TD Garden should be electric as the city of Boston hopes to celebrate its third champion in seven months at the end of the series.

It’s been 11 days since Boston was last on the ice, and the Bruins are going to be fired up tonight. The Bruins are a slight favorite in this series, and home ice advantage will be on their side too. Tuukka Rask has been absolutely phenomenal this postseason with a 1.84 GAA and .942 save percentage.

Vince Dunn will miss his fourth straight game due to an upper body injury tonight. Dunn was hit in the mouth by a puck when the Blues were taking on the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Finals, but he is reportedly close to returning.

Despite being doubled up in terms of shots, Team Finland knocked off Team Canada to win its third IIHF World Championship on Sunday. Kevin Lankinen was incredible in net for the Finns for the second straight game, as the Finns upset the favored Canadians.

Ottawa had a rough season, but the Senators are hopeful that they can keep Cody Ceci in the fold. Ceci was a first-round pick of the Senators in 2012, and he has been one of the team’s better defensemen during that time. Word is that they are close to reaching a long-term deal.
