Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been a fixture in the city since 2004, and should be a future Hall of Famer. However, one might wonder when and if he is seen on the gridiron again.
Prior to Monday Night Football, ESPN’s Adam Schefter updated the masses on Roethlisberger’s status. Furthermore, Big Ben had elbow surgery on Monday per a source. Meanwhile, it is expected that he will return for the 2020 season.
Schefter released a series of tweets that gave this information, along with some other valuable tidbits.

What’s more, Schefter tells us that Roethlisberger had surgery on his right elbow in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. Hopefully, that is not a place anyone reading needs to visit anytime soon. What’s more, a man famous for some serious elbow surgeries named Neal ElAttrache performed the procedure along with a Steelers’ team physician.

Of course, the take-home message on this story is that Roethlisberger had a major surgery and will be 38 the next time he is able to make a throw. At this point, it’s tough to say whether or not we see Roethlisberger again; and when.
Finally, Schefter tells us what the next step in Roethlisberger’s rehab program will be.
Steelers’ statement: ”Once Ben returns to Pittsburgh, he immediately will begin working with the Steelers’ medical staff on his rehabilitation, and he is expected to make a full recovery and return to the field for the 2020 NFL season.”

Furthermore, the Pittsburgh Steelers released an official statement. It reads as follows:
“Once Ben returns to Pittsburgh, he immediately will begin working with the Steelers’ medical staff on his rehabilitation, and he is expected to make a full recovery and return to the field for the 2020 NFL season.”
Now, this could be wishful thinking on the part of an organization that wants to calm a weary fan base with some positive jingoism. Remember, Roethlisberger signed a 5-year contract extension north of $100 million dollars in 2015. Still, several years remain on the deal.
Roethlisberger has won two Super Bowls with the Steelers and has thrown for 363 touchdowns and 56,545 yards in his illustrious career.
