Steelers News: Mason Rudolph Talks About How He Feels About Myles Garrett

Obviously, it seems like the Pittsburgh Steelers are coming around a bit in regards to their responsibility in the Myles Garrett incident. First, consider what Mike Tomlin said about his team’s role in the brawl on Tuesday.

Now, their quarterback is coming out to say he regrets his initial actions with the Browns’ defensive end. In case you forgot, look at the video below we have found that displays what Rudolph did to incite Garrett. Obviously, we don’t want to point the finger of blame. Rather, this is providing visual evidence so you can draw your own conclusions.

However, Rudolph seems to note that he had some hand in this taking place.

“I should’ve done a better job handling that situation,” Rudolph said. “I have no ill will towards Myles Garrett. Great respect for his ability as a player. And I know that if Myles could go back, he would handle the situation differently.”

Honestly, that’s a nice quote from Rudolph. Furthermore, it shows a person accepting responsibility. Surely, he didn’t deserved to be slugged in the head with his own helmet. On the other hand – if Rudolph didn’t try to rip Garrett’s headgear off while laying on the ground – we probably aren’t writing this post.

The Steelers’ quarterback said more as well.

“As for my involvement last week, there’s no acceptable excuse. The bottom line is I should’ve done a better job keeping my composure in that situation and [not] fall short of what I believe it means to be a Pittsburgh Steeler and a member of the NFL.”

While Rudolph decided not to press charges, these quotes are admirable. We can all learn from this, and the lesson is that when things happen; we usually have some responsibility in things that come our way. It’s refreshing to see a young player in the NFL accepting that responsibility.

The Browns and Steelers will play again in Pittsburgh in early December, and Rudolph should again be under center. In what has become one of the biggest NFL stories of the year, that game may not pass by quietly.
