Who says you can’t go home again? In this case, Le’veon Bell said on the “17 Weeks” podcast that the Pittsburgh Steelers were trying to make a trade for him at the deadline. This information came to Bell from his agent.
Remember, Bell left the Steelers after a tumultuous holdout for his first season with the Jets in 2018. Moreover, here’s Bell directly quoted in the tweet below; pulled straight from the podcast.

Notably, not only did the Pittsburgh Steelers try trading for Bell; but two other heavyweight contenders in the AFC.
“I found out through my agent he had talked to the Jets and there were teams like Houston, the Packers, the Kansas City Chiefs and, surprisingly, the Steelers were all in the mix in trying to trade for me,”
Thus far in 2019, Bell has 536 total yards from scrimmage alongside just two touchdowns. Aside from that he is averaging just 3.8 yards per touch with the Jets. Obviously, this makes the case that you can’t spend heavily on a running back. Indeed, Bell signed four-year, $52.5 million deal with the Jets this past March.
Still, the Jets must see Bell as a valuable asset; because they didn’t just give him away for a middling draft pick.
“Not too many teams really want to pay that high of a price for a running back,” the three-time All-Pro said. “To be honest I obviously was not trying to take a pay cut simply for the fact that I sat out a year of football to get what I feel like I earned and deserved.”
It’s tough to say if the marriage between the Jets and Bell ends well. However, if trade talks are any indication; it’s clear that Bell’s stock around the NFL is still plenty high.
