Steve Kerr: Steph Curry questionable to play in the second round of the NBA Playoffs

Kerr

Steve Kerr and his Golden State Warriors are off to a great postseason start, after recording the second win against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night with a 116-101 win. Kevin Durant scored 32 points and adding 6 boards and 6 assists, while Klay Thompson had another great shooting night, finishing off the game with 31 points (12-20 FG).

The 2-0 Warriors lead is certainly a great news for the organization and the fans, but the time for joy did not last long after the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr addressed the media and talked about the injury status of Steph Curry. Namely, according to the current state, Steph Curry will, most likely, miss the entire second round of the playoffs, if the Warriors win the series against the Spurs.

When asked about the injury update on Steph Curry, Kerr revealed that Curry will miss additional three weeks, which means that he would not play in the Conference semi-finals against the winners of the Trail Blazers vs Pelicans series (Pelicans lead the series 2-0).

The two-time MVP last played on March 23rd against the Atlanta Hawks, when his teammate JaVale McGee caused the knee injury and forced Curry to be sidelined ever since. Prior to this injury, Curry was sidelined with different injuries on four different occasions.

Even without their star player, the Warriors seem to be doing just fine in the postseason, with other players stepping in and distributing the load of responsibility in Curry’s absence. Kevin Durant has combined 56 pts, 14 boards, and 13 assists, while Klay Thompson has been on fire, combining for 58 pts and shooting 23-33 from the field in the first two games.

With or without Curry, the Golden State Warriors seem to be in control of the first round series, and should he return sometime during the second round (if the Warriors defeat the Spurs), he will most likely not be ready to go 100%, which is why the Warriors will probably stick to the 6-week recovery plan from the grade two MCL strain injury.
