Talk ‘n’ Shoot MMA Podcast: The Rise of Women’s MMA

The UFC 184 card scheduled for Feb. 27 is headlined by the women’s bantamweight title match between champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Cat Zingano.  The women’s MMA action is not limited to just that fight, as the UFC has two more fights on the calendar and Legacy and Bellator are both featuring women’s fights this month.  Additionally, you have a complete eight-fight card promoted by all-women’s Invicta.  The big news on the Invicta 11 card is the return of Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, who will be defending her 145 lb belt against Charmaine Tweet.

How healthy is women’s MMA in 2015?  Ronda Rousey is the big draw and the top dog in the rankings, and that has been the case for a couple of years now. But in February, two potential future opponents that are highly anticipated will also be featured, as Holly Holm and Christiane “Cyborg” Justino both are involved in high-stakes matches. Justino will be defending her Invicta featherweight title against Charmaine Tweet on the UFC’s Fight Pass Network, and Holly Holm will face Raquel Pennington in her UFC debut.

Here is our veteran MMA expert Miguel Iturrate with special guests MMA veteran referee Sean Brockmole and female MMA Superstar Tara LaRosa as they look in depth at the women’s fights planned for February.
