Tampa Bay Rays – Miami Marlins Preview – 05.23.2016

Wei-Yin Chen (3-2, 4.22 ERA) and Matt Moore (1-3, 5.09 ERA) start in the first of a two-game series between the Miami Marlins (22-21) and the Tampa Bay Rays (20-21) at Marlins Park. Action begins at 7:10 p.m. ET on Monday, May. 23 and can be seen on FSFL and SUN.

Chen pitched 6.0 innings in his last outing, surrendering three runs (one unearned) and striking out six in a 3-1 defeat to the Phillies. Marcell Ozuna (.311, 26 Rs, 8 HRs, 22 RBIs) went 1 for 4 yesterday with one run. Moore went 5.0 innings, surrendering four runs, striking out three and walking one in a 7-6 defeat to the Athletics in his most recent start. Steve Pearce (.312, 16 Rs, 7 HRs, 18 RBIs) has been successful at the plate for the Rays, going 2 for 4 yesterday.

Notes

After a weak showing last week where they got in six hits, the Marlins need to step it up. The Rays have a record of 11-4 when opponents get six hits or less.
