For all the talk about these two teams being evenly matched coming into the NA LCS Finals, it didn’t look that way when it was all said and done. Team Liquid routed 100 Thieves 3-0 to win its first-ever NA LCS championship and will represent North America at the Mid-Season Invitational next month. The victory caps off an incredible run from Team Liquid, who went 9-1 in the postseason.

An incredible performance from Doublelift

Doublelift stole the show with his performance on Sunday. The superstar AD Carry suffered about the most tragic news possible earlier in the week, but he came through with an incredible showing against 100 Thieves. He has been on fire this postseason, with a 39 KDA coming into the playoffs, and kept it going in Miami. On three different champions, he racked up 13 kills and 15 assists, with just one death against his name. He and Olleh had incredibly synergy in the bottom lane, and that put a lot of pressure on Cody Sun and Aprhomoo.

The Baron steal

As well as Team Liquid played throughout the series, they were on the back foot for most of the first game. 100 Thieves was able to get out to a lead in the early game and looked set to take Game 1 in the series. After taking down two members of Liquid in an extended fight, 100 Thieves looked to capitalize and take Baron, but instead saw the game slip away from them after they failed to keep Xmithie from coming into the pit to steal Baron.

Xmithie was able to take the Baron on Sejuani thanks in part to some good play from Impact on Singed. The duo was able to get in and out of the Baron pit with the buff active and not give up a kill in the process, leading to Liquid turning around Game 1 and not looking back.

Up next

With the victory, Team Liquid will advance to the Mid-Season Invitational in Europe next month where they will take on the winners from other regions around the world.
