Tennessee Volunteers vs. Vanderbilt Commodores ATS Prediction

The Volunteers will be hoping for similar success after barely hanging on to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in their last contest, 71-68. Tennessee’s 11.2 turnover percentage was their biggest strength over Alabama, who had a mark of 16.3. The Volunteers’ mark was better than their season average of 14.4. Tennessee was lifted by Admiral Schofield, who had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The last time the Commodores took the court, they were beaten by the No. 24 Mississippi State Bulldogs, 71-55. Mississippi State’s offensive rebounding percentage was their largest advantage over Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs had a rate of 30.3 (below their season average of 35.5), while the Commodores posted a mark of 18.9 (below their season average of 30.5). Vanderbilt’s Saben Lee had a solid performance, leading the team in scoring with 13 points on 4-for-9 shooting.

After the Volunteers won both matchups against the Commodores last season, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams. In the last matchup, Tennessee won 67-62. Tennessee had a much better free throw rate (0.500 vs. 0.193). Vanderbilt, meanwhile, had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (36.1 vs. 25.0).

The physical Vanderbilt offense could be living from the charity stripe in this battle. Moreover, the Volunteers rank 13th in effective field goal percentage (0.567), while the Commodores rank 53rd in effective field goal percentage allowed (0.470).
