Just two days after firing general manager Brian Gaine, the Houston Texans are already circling his replacement. They’ve reportedly requested an interview with San Francisco 49ers vice president of player personnel Martin Mayhew. Mayhew was the Detroit Lions’ GM for seven years before spending the last two years in San Francisco. Houston interviewed former Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer Saturday, much to the horror of their fanbase.

After flaming out on the Canadian Football League and jumping onto the sinking ship of the Alliance of American Football, former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel has set his sights on another upstart football league, Vince McMahon’s XFL. At a collector’s show in Houston Saturday, Manziel expressed interest in playing for the league’s Houston franchise.
