A day after announcing the match-ups for each team, the NFL officially released its 2015 schedule Tuesday night with a marquee matchup leading the Week 1 action on Thursday night between Pittsburgh and New England.
In all there will be four prime time games on opening week, with the NFL once again running a Monday Night doubleheader. Sunday Night Football has the New York Giants at the Dallas Cowboys in a contest of potential NFC East champions.
Chip Kelly’s new-look Philadelphia Eagles led by quarterback Sam Bradford open the first Monday Night Football game at the Atlanta Falcons, who are led by first-year head coach Dan Quinn. The late game Monday will see another head coaching debut as Jim Tomsula and the San Francisco 49ers host the Minnesota Vikings.
The defending NFC Champions open the season on the road against a brand new St. Louis Rams team quarterbacked by Nick Foles. One of the more interesting matches may be in one of the late games as the Tennessee Titans play at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a potential match-up of the No. 1 and No. 2 players taken in the NFL draft at the end of the month.
Rex Ryan has his hands full in his first regular season Buffalo Bills coaching appearance when his team hosts Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.
Week Two brings match-ups like the Patriots at Bills, Chargers at Bengals and Seahawks at Packers, all games with potential playoff implications at the end of the year.
You’ll get a full slate of games on Thanksgiving, with the Eagles playing at the Lions, the Panthers traveling to Dallas and an AFC North battle between the Bears and Packers. Reportedly Brett Favre could have his jersey retried at this game during halftime.
