Professional wrestling has multiple components to it. This includes the actual wrestling itself, the promos, the storytelling, and the characters. However, one of the most important parts of a wrestler’s character is their entrance. When you think about the spectacle of every event, hearing that first note of an entrance theme can generate huge cheers or boos from the audience. Just think about every time the gong hits for the Undertaker’s entrance, or when the glass shatters for Stone Cold Steve Austin. A great entrance theme can make a performer even better, and a bad one can dampen their presence. So what are the best and worst entrance themes in the WWE? Here they are, ranked from five to one.
The Best
5) Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens is a fighter, and one that is just willing to give a beating. He had a whole run in NXT where he would powerbomb his opponents onto the ring apron and cause injury. This entrance theme is simple, and just has the feel that the person walking out is about to dish out some punishment. If you are Owens’s opponent and you hear this music, you better buckle up.
4) Finn Balor
There are two sides to Finn Balor. One is the every day, backstage promo, weekly NXT episode Finn Balor. Then there is the Finn Balor that turns into “The Demon” at NXT TakeOver events, when he needs to dig deep down inside to defeat a big challenge. This theme fits the entrance perfectly, especially when you see the fan interaction with The Demon’s motions. What is interesting about this theme is that CFO$, the group that composes the WWE theme songs after Jim Johnston (known for composing entrance themes from the Attitude Era through the mid-late 2000s), wrote this song for The Demon, but Balor would get some help with entrance from an unlikely source: The Undertaker. The same man who has one of the most epic entrances of all time helped Balor become the Demon. That goes to show how epic this entrance really is.
3) Becky Lynch
Whether you like Becky Lynch or not (How could you not like Becky Lynch?), this entrance theme is sure to pump everybody up. It has a very fast pace, almost reminiscent of the soundtrack to the Sonic the Hedgehog video games. If the crowd is starting to lose interest in Monday Night Raw, this theme hits and pulls them in. Becky Lynch has a very animated personality, and this theme fits her very well. There is never a time when Becky Lynch comes out to the ring where people aren’t excited, and it is thanks to this theme.
2) Bray Wyatt
Most Superstars have entrance themes that pump you up, and get you excited for the next match. Bray Wyatt’s entrance is different. The lights go out, only to see the lights of the cell phones in the audience, and he enters with his Wyatt Family in a very slow and methodical way while only using a lantern to guide him to the ring. This theme fits the mood perfectly: it’s mellow, very quiet compared to other themes, and pulls you into the world of Bray Wyatt.
1) Sasha Banks
Sasha Banks found the perfect character in “The Boss,” and it has shown since her days in NXT. Last year, she took the wrestling world by storm after having classic matches with Becky Lynch and Bayley. If you have the time, you should watch Sasha Banks vs. Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT: TakeOver Brooklyn.
This entrance theme perfectly embodies the idea of Sasha Banks being The Boss. The beat is great, the song is incredibly catchy, and the message sent is that nothing is going to stop her. As soon as the entrance theme hits, you know The Boss is here.
