The MLS season continues with a full slate of games on tap for this weekend and that means multiple opportunities to cash in with DraftKings MLS daily leagues on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We’ll focus on the big day on Saturday, so here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s MLS fantasy action.
GK: Jaime Penedo, Los Angeles
Salary: $5,700
No goalkeeper has been better than Penedo of late and he will have an excellent opportunity to add to his impressive fantasy numbers on Saturday against a Colorado team that is buried at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. They have just six goals in seven games so far this season. Penedo is the most expensive option on the board but he deserves to be and there is no reason to think he won’t reward fantasy GM’s for their investment in him.
D: Chris Tierney, New England
Salary: $4,700
Tierney isn’t the most expensive defender available for Saturday’s action but it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if he was based on how he has performed of late. Tierney has the highest fantasy points per game among defenders eligible for Saturday’s games and he should be in for another strong performance with the Red Bulls in town this weekend.
D: Hernan Grana, Columbus
Salary: $4,100
Grana ranks among the top fantasy defenders on the board for Saturday’s action and he’s available at a price that won’t scare us away from taking him. Grana should be busy again with Columbus set to clash with DC United, so he should log one of the best fantasy lines of the day among defenders.
M: Pedro Morales, Vancouver
Salary: $8,200
The ability to lock in two of the top defenders on the board at such a reasonable price means that it isn’t a problem to have to spend a little more to get the top midfielder on the board as well in Morales. The Whitecaps have shown the ability to score goals in bunches this season and there is every reason to expect Morales to continue to produce at a high level versus Portland this weekend.
M: Felipe Martins, New York
Salary: $4,900
Felipe produced one of the top fantasy lines for all MLS midfielders last week and at a discount price, it makes a lot of sense to go back to him this weekend. Felipe has the chance to be the most productive midfielder on the board as the Red Bulls try to break the Revolution’s back line, so it’s amazing that he is available at under $5,000.
F: Kei Kamara, Columbus
Salary: $9,600
The best part about getting so many strong value plays across the board is that there is still plenty of money left over to spend by the time we begin to address the forward cores. That means going all-in with two of the most expensive and productive options available. Kamara has been the Crew’s best attacking option all year, so plug him in against DC United on Saturday.
F: Sebastian Giovinco, Toronto
Salary: $9,000

Toronto FC has gone through the type of growing pains that a team in transition is bound to experience but there is reason to like the progress they have made. There is no denying the talent they have up front with players like Giovinco. The Italian striker has been their most productive fantasy forward so it makes sense to have him as our play from the Toronto game for a date with Philadelphia.
FLEX: Taylor Kemp, DC United
Salary: $3,500
There is still enough money to invest in a quality FLEX option here and the best bet remaining on the board appears to be the DC United defender Kemp, who is available for under $4,000 despite the potential for a very productive day as a starter. Some GM’s might prefer to spend a little less on the second forward position and invest the money saved here, but we feel very comfortable plugging in Giovinco and Kemp in those spots.
