Manchester City’s plight at the top of the Premier League table has opened up room for plenty of questions about whether they will be able to hold on to a Champions League spot with five games remaining. Even with their recent injury woes, there is certainly enough talent for them to rally down the stretch.
Meanwhile, Chelsea has run away in the title race and can all but clinch it with a win over Arsenal in a weekend that should feature plenty of scoring. If you’re playing daily fantasy, here’s our view of the best possible lineup for the weekend’s Premier League at DraftKings.
GK: Joe Hart, Manchester City
Salary: $5,400
While there should be plenty of scoring this weekend, it will be about attention to detail and doing better in the possession game for a Manchester City side that is desperate to get back on track. Hart has been outstanding for City all year regardless of their recent struggles. He should be able to help them secure an important three points at home against an Aston Villa side that doesn’t represent too harsh of a threat on the road.
D: Nathaniel Clyne, Southampton
Salary: $4,000
Southampton had allowed one goal in three matches before a 2-1 loss to Stoke City last week but that defeat will only serve as more motivation to tighten things up at the back this week with Tottenham in town. Ryan Bertand is an excellent option here as well but Clyne is the better value of the two here at $400 cheaper.
D: Richie De Laet, Leicester City
Salary: $3,000
There are many weeks where it makes sense to avoid Leicester defenders but a date with Burnley isn’t one of them as De Laet and company get an excellent opportunity to jump over Sunderland and Hull City, and out of the relegation zone. DeLaet isn’t the most talented defender in the Premier League but considering the price point and his recent play, he is the best option on this Leicester side with the clean sheet bonus in play.
M: Eden Hazard, Chelsea
Salary: $9,400
Hazard’s 12th league goal of the season was the difference in last week’s win over Manchester United and he will get a chance to add to his already impressive resume with Chelsea in another tough challenge versus Arsenal. Hazard has been the Blues best player all season and it won’t be a surprise to see him register another monster fantasy performance in a big game against the Gunners this week.
M: Charlie Adam, Stoke City
Salary: $4,800
Adam has been very good of late and so has Stoke City. That means he deserves a spot in most lineups regardless of the fact that he is also an excellent value play for one of two midfield spots.
F: Sergio Aguero, Manchester City
Salary: $10,000
The one striker that should be a lock in your lineup is Aguero thanks to the money you saved elsewhere with players like De Laet and Adam. Aguero has been an absolute stud all season for Manchester City and he should be at his best again this week as they look to rally for an important three points against Aston Villa at home.
F: Wayne Rooney, Manchester United
Salary: $9,400
The money saved elsewhere with players like Adam and De Laet will allow for more money to be spent up front where Rooney will be eager to put last week’s disappointment behind him when United visits Everton. Rooney had plenty of opportunities last week but couldn’t find the back of the net against Chelsea and will be focused to get on the score sheet with a chance to redeem himself this week.
FLEX: Marc Albrighton, Leicester City
Salary: $4,000
Albrighton looked amazing in his first start for Leicester when he sent 10 crosses in to the box and while he is a bit of a risk in this spot his price tag as well as a favorable matchup versus Burnley makes him well worth it with a chance he could have another big game.
