Atletico Madrid’s La Liga plight has resulted in them falling to fourth in the table below Valencia but it isn’t too late for them to turn things around. This week they try to dust themselves off and rally in order to lock down a Champions League position for next year. Atletico will have an excellent opportunity to get back on track against lowly Cordoba, so it’s no surprise that the best lineups for Saturday’s DraftKings daily La Liga leagues is stacked with players from that game.
GK – Moya (Atletico Madrid)
Atletico’s keeper ranks among the six best La Liga keepers in terms of overall fantasy production this season and he should register one of his better performances on Saturday. The key will be to keep Cordoba in check, which shouldn’t be too hard as long as Atletico doesn’t have another catastrophic letdown. Cordoba is dead last in the La Liga table and have tallied just 11 goals in 13 home games this season. Moya is a good bet.
D – Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid)
Godin stood tall when Atletico knocked off consecutive clean sheets and could be in for another this weekend against an opponent they should be able to dominate. Regardless of what happens up front, Godin should put up a solid fantasy performance on Saturday with a clean sheet being a real possibility.
D – Koke (Atletico Madrid)
It makes sense to stick with the best matchup on the board and load up on the back end where the clean sheet could be an added bonus for Atletico defenders. Koke ranks second behind only Godin in terms of overall fantasy production among Atletico defenders so either him or Tiago is worth picking up as an option on the back end.
M – Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)
Griezmann has been a stud for Atletico all season with an average of eight points per week but that number is down after a rough month that has seen his production faltered. He will need to step up again if his team is going to have any chance at rallying down the stretch. There is no better opponent for Griezmann to get going against than a Cordoba side that is buried at the bottom of the table. They’ve allowed a whopping 18 goals in 13 home games, so Atletico should tally at least a pair. Griezmann should be able to get some touches in on those goals and make his fantasy mark.
M – Fede Cartabia (Cordoba)
The other side of the Atletico/Cordoba equation has the home side’s most dependent midfielder looking to recapture the form he showed in Week 25 when he contributed across the board. Cordoba has struggled mightily to say the least this season but he is a top 10 midfielder this year in terms of fantasy production. It won’t be a surprise if he stepped up against a talented opponent this weekend.
F – Carlos Bacca (Sevilla)
Barcelona and Real Madrid don’t play until Sunday, which leaves Bacca as the most productive striker on the board for Saturday’s action. Bacca’s 16 goals this season are more than impressive and he will need to be at his best in a key clash with Athletic Bilbao.
F – Mario Mandzukic (Atletico Madrid)
Another key player that Atletico absolutely needs to step up down the final stretch is Mandzukic, who has really struggled over the last month. Mandzukic showed flashes of his ability to consistently put up quality goal totals earlier in the year and he must recapture that form beginning with their date with Cordoba this weekend. This is a layup for him and he needs to get back on track.
FLEX – Grzegorz Krychowiak (Sevilla)
The Sevilla midfielder has shown flashes this season and while he has slowed down in recent weeks, he should be due for a big performance versus Athletic Bilbao this weekend. Sevilla needs more production from the midfield position and Krychowiak has the potential to play a starring role.
