It’s time once again for the Gronkcast with Chris and Glenn Gronkowski. Each week, the two former NFL players team up to deliver betting advice and a one-of-a-kind look at the NFL experience. So sit back in your bean-bag chair, futon or indoor swing, crack open your beverage of choice, pour it into your IceShaker and enjoy the show. It’s all exclusive to GetMoreSports.
Chris opens the show still celebrating the recent success of the BulletProof City Bus, which has gone 4-1 over the last five weeks. Glenn isn’t feeling quite so celebratory. Last week he took the Washington Redskins with Mark Sanchez at quarterback to win over the surging New York Giants. Needless to say, that didn’t happen.
“That pick might be as bad as Gord’s pick on our previous podcast,” Glenn said. “That’s the worst pick I could have ever done.”
Last week Chris went with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to knock off the Atlanta Falcons, which they did to the tune of 34-20.
“I knew Aaron Rodgers wanted to come out and make a point,” Chris said. “He was at home against a Falcons team that struggles on the road and they came out and spanked the Falcons. They were up 34-7 on them coming into the fourth.”
When it’s time to deliver Week 15’s Bulletproof Picks, Glenn once again eschews the point spread and goes with the over in one of the best games of the week.
Unlike last week, Chris doesn’t just go the opposite of Glenn’s pick. He heads up north in a pick I see the same way.
The picks segment naturally segues into a discussion on what’s more important in the NFL, offense of defense. Last week was big for the league’s defensive units, especially in Chicago. The Bears top-ranked unit shut down the Los Angeles Rams completely, holding them out of the end zone for the first time in the Sean McVay era on their way to a 15-9 victory.
From there, Chris and Glenn roll into the fan question of the week and this one hits close to the heart as a fan asks about brother Rob’s performance on the epic final play of the New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins game. The Patriots coaching staff has been eating plenty of criticism this week for having Rob in on that play, defending a Hail Mary, instead of a safety who could make a tackle. It’s the kind of coaching call that could have set up the Patriots with a chance at home field advantage in the AFC once again, instead of a No. 2 or even No. 3 seed. New England hasn’t won a road playoff game in nearly a decade.
“It didn’t make any sense for him (Rob Gronkowski) to be in there,” Chris said. “The Dolphins were at their own 31 yard line. To throw the ball into the end zone from the 31, it would have been an absolute bomb. It would have been a 75-yard monster bomb.”
Before the show wraps up, Chris and Glenn go into detail on their five Capper’s Cup picks and set up all your action for Week 15 of the NFL season.
