There is still hockey being played, but sometimes the most exciting action happens off the ice. We don’t typically see a lot of spiciness on NHL social media accounts, but the playoffs can bring out the fire. Let’s look at some of those posts below.
What do you know, you *can* kill off four straight minutes of power play time!

The San Jose Sharks are still bringing the heat after their incredible comeback in Game 7 against the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas fans and some stodgier types might not like the Sharks trolling after the NHL felt the need to apologize for the call, but the Golden Knights shouldn’t have blown a 3-1 series lead.

Let’s stay in San Jose to pay homage to Brent Burns. Burns is the rare player that didn’t peak until he hit 30, but he has now made five straight All-Star games, and he is continually one of the highest scoring defensemen in the NHL. He has notched 60 or more points in each of the last five seasons, and he makes San Jose’s power play lethal with his ability to play the point.
“Honestly, I wasn’t even sure it went in,” Jordan Staal said. “I just saw some people celebrating, so I started celebrating, too. I’m not sure exactly how it went in or what.” A @laurakeeley encore, writing about the Hurricanes' OT winner. https://t.co/y7dvqAXgKw

There were some choice words from the Islanders locker room following Jordan Staal’s game-winning overtime goal on Friday night, but Staal is one of those grinders that does a lot to make his own luck. He cut his teeth on Pittsburgh’s third line in the late 2000s, and he has long been one of the best centers when it comes to playing shorthanded.

John Tavares, Mark Stone, and Matt Murray are going to stay on the ice for a little while longer. The three stars saw their teams eliminated from the NHL playoffs in the first round, but they have decided to represent Canada at the IIHF World Championships in Slovakia.
Cassidy on the cause of the recent too many men penalties: “Clearly I can’t count to five…”
Puts it on coaches, then explains each one.

Bruce Cassidy had a humorous take when he was asked about Boston taking so many too many men penalties in recent games. The Bruins have had a too many men penalty in three of their last four games, and there has to be an adjustment from the bench coach going forward.
