The Voice: Live Voting Continues

The Voice

Tonight, The Voice live voting continues with two spots on each team left for the contestants. Lots of performances to talk about as we whittle down the contestants, so let’s get right to it:

First of all, the way this night and tomorrow night works on The Voice is that the live voters get to choose one person who’s moving forward, while tomorrow the judges will choose a contestant who is leaving the competition.

First up on The Voice is Team Blake:
Spensha Baker: Singing Smoke Break, Spensha is so happy singing country music, but this is a Carrie Underwood song and she sounds good, but she seems a little off. Spensha seems a little disappointed with her performance. She’s not seeming happy after the song. With positive comments from Kelly Clarkson and Spensha’s coach Blake, she cheers up a little.

Wilkes: He is singing “Don’t Speak” and while he sounds good, this isn’t my favorite performance of his even with the improvised acapella ending due to a microphone falling down. All of the coaches are standing and Alicia praises him and calls him ‘special.’

Pryor Baird: With the hottest version of 9 to 5 I’ve ever heard, I will pay now to see Pryor Baird in concert right now. Enuf said.
Austin Giorgio: Singing “Love Yourself,” and yes he’s not doing a Frank Sinatra-type song. This song really suits his voice. Nice selection. He hits a rough patch in the middle of the song, but it was a decent job.
Gary Edwards: An unconventional choice, Gary is singing America the Beautiful. Fabulous rendition, but will it be good enough to get him through to the next round? Kelly talks about his range and his runs, calling them “insane.” Blake said that Gary’s made his presence known.

Of course, it’s hard to tell who will make it through on The Voice because now it’s a phoning and tweeting popularity contestant, but I honestly think Pryor was the strongest of the Blake team tonight.

Team Alica is next:
Terrence Cunningham: Kicking off Team Alicia with “Ain’t Nobody,” and does anyone feel like you’re at a Terrence Cunningham concert when he’s on stage and that the rest of the contestants are fillers?
Christiana Danielle: Singing “Take Me To Church,” Christiana sounds a little rocky, but has some great range and picks up once she gets to the chorus. I’m not a fan of this later part of the song at all, but we’ll see what the judges think. Kelly says she’s in love with Christiana and that her alto is ‘sexy.’ Of course, Alicia is going to talk about how amazing she is because these judges don’t say “hey I don’t think that was the best song choice for you.”
Jackie Foster: Singing “Alone,” and Heart is hard to sing, but Jackie Foster does it with ease. I loved how she walked closer to the judges for the big note. She nailed this performance.
Kelsea Johnson: Singing “Need You Bad,” and I’m not too fond of this song choice, but I love her facial expressions in this song and her ability to emote.
Johnny Bliss closes out Team Alicia with “One and Only,” and I think Johnny is an underdog in this competition, especially compared to the other Alicia team members. Alicia calls him amazing and says that she quits because this is getting hard.

Let’s see how Team Kelly and Team Adam do tomorrow night on a special Wednesday night edition of The Voice.
